Le 5 mai 2021, la France devrait commémorer les 200 ans de la mort de Napoléon et pourtant, rien n’est prévu pour cette occasion. À gauche, Alexis Corbière a lancé l’offensive en déclarant que “<\/span>la République n’a pas à célébrer son fossoyeu<\/strong>r” tandis qu’à droite, Jean-Louis Debré a estimé que “ce serait une provocation”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pourtant, Napoléon<\/a> demeure <\/span>la personnalité historique préférée des Français<\/strong>, devant le général de Gaulle. Quel exemple d’intégration que celui de ce petit Corse qui ne parlait pas très bien le français au départ avant de devenir <\/span>l’inventeur de l’État moderne et l’homme le plus puissant du monde<\/strong> <\/span>à son époque.<\/p>\n

Alexis Corbière et Jean-Louis Debré reprochent à Napoléon <\/span>le rétablissement de l’esclavage<\/strong> <\/span>mais en recontextualisant ce fait dans l’Histoire, aucun pays du monde n’avait aboli l’esclavage à l’époque. <\/p>\n

Cette peur d’affronter notre propre histoire conduit parfois à <\/span>des scénarios complètement dingues<\/strong> <\/span>comme ce fut le cas en décembre 2005 où la France, à la demande de Jacques Chirac<\/a>, avait refusé de commémorer le bicentenaire de la bataille d’Austerlitz<\/a>, le zénith de l’épopée napoléonienne alors que quelques mois plus tard, <\/span>elle avait participé aux commémorations de Trafalgar<\/strong>, une défaite française de Napoléon.<\/p>\n
