Woerth-Bettencourt case: <\/strong>This case concerns the illegal financing of his electoral campaign. In 2007, Fran\u00e7oise Bettencourt launches a procedure to put her mother, the famous billionaire Liliane Bettencourt under guardianship because she considers that she is the victim of abuse of weakness. During the trial, we discover that she would have given \u20ac 50,000 in cash to Eric Woerth, Nicolas Sarkozy's campaign manager. Finally in March 2013, the court of cassation dismissed Nicolas Sarkozy for lack of evidence. Claire Thibout, the accountant of Liliane Bettencourt will be indicted for false testimony related to this transfer of cash.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Elysee polls affair:<\/strong> The Elysee polls case concerns a complaint filed by the Court of Auditors in 2009. Polls by the company Politifact, would have been requested by Nicolas Sarkozy the president of the time and this would relate more to questions of re-election than on his current term. Its costs should therefore be attributed to campaign expenses and not to the taxpayer's expense. These would be irregularities for contracts concluded between the Elysee and various polling institutes. Nicolas Sarkosy will not be worried because of penal irresponsibility.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Sarkozy and Kad case<\/strong>hafi<\/strong>: It concerns a suspicion of financing up to 50 million for the presidential campaign from the Lybien regime. In 2007, the maximum authorized for presidential campaigns was 21 million and Nicolas Sarkeozy would therefore have spent 71 million. The key witnesses are either dead or in a coma and the case is still ongoing.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Bygmalion case: <\/strong>During Nicolas Sarkozy's campaign for a second term in 2012, his meetings were organized by the company Bygmalion Events & cie. Nicolas Sarkozy will have done a lot of 44 meetings in total, unlike Fran\u00e7ois Hollande who would have only done 10. In addition, his meetings cost on average 500,000 \u20ac. The campaign spending limit was then 22.5 million, the campaign team would have negotiated with Bygmalion not to show at the expense of the Association for financing the campaign of Nicolas Sarkozy, reduced costs and thus remain in the authorized ceiling. The difference in costs would have been billed to the UMP. Investigators estimate the amount of campaign costs billed to the UMP at 18.5 million euros.<\/span><\/p>\n Several Bygmalion officials, UMP executives and members of the campaign team are implicated. Nicolas Sarkozy denies having knowledge of these facts. The case is still ongoing.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Paul Bismuth case: <\/strong>The Paul Bismuth affair, also called the \u201cwiretapping affair\u201d, is a suspicion of a corrupt magistrate by Nicolas Sarkozy. Indeed, during the Lybian investigation, the magistrates listened to the former president on these two telephone lines: one was official, the other was in the name of Paul Bismuth but belonged to Nicolas Sarozy. It was then that they overheard a conversation concerning the Bettencourt affair and a senior magistrate Gilbert Azibert who could help them obtain information with in exchange a post in the key.<\/p>\n Finally, the high magistrate never had the post and Nicolas Sarkozy denies having interceded in his favor. The charges retained are Corruption and Influence peddling. Nicolas Sarkozy was sentenced to 3 years in prison of 1 year firm, on March 1, 2021.
